Basic First Questions to Ask
Basic First Things to Do When Diagnosed
Here the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has given us some basic first questions to ask the doctors for yourself, if you are diagnosed or for your child. It is in a print out form which is good. You may have other questions to add to it as it pertains to your personal health situation.

I am going to put in a series of basic first links that may be useful.
I think it is the initial part of the diagnosis when it is the most difficult for a person to know what to do or how to begin so I am going to focus on that for a while. In my own case, the specialist spent a few minutes with me telling me what it is and that if I had any other questions I should go to my doctor. Since my doctor was in retirement mode, I felt kind of lost. I googled CLL. I called around to some entirely wrong areas and then gave up. There was nothing local that I could find with any info.
I am in British Columbia, Canada and there are resources, I just could not find them. And none of the doctors I saw mentioned that there were any other resources. I find that just terrible, so I had to start a blog of what I did find out so no one else wanders around in a wasteland. It was very depressing and lonely.
Finally I found the American Leukemia Association and sent them an email. I ended up contacting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Information Resource Center in White Plains, NY. They sent me a wonderful email back! I was so very happy! In future posts I will put in more info on what I am learning. It is important to reach out to someone and I now have a lot of links to put in. This is the link to the American Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. If you are in Canada this is the Canadian Leukemia and Lymphoma site. They even have a toll-free phone number to call.
I am aware that I have no readers or commentors but I don't think it really is the purpose of this blog. Google is pretty good about keeping blogs on for a period of time, you can even indicate on your webmaster when you want your blog to be retired. So this may not be read or help anyone now, perhaps in the future I will find where I should place this blog to get readers.
